Thank you for considering joining the SKP alpha test.  We hope to give you an idea of what to expect to help you gauge your involvement.  If you don’t find an answer to your questions in here, let us know what they are and we’ll add them to the list.

  • What is SKP?

    • SKP is a brand new start-up.  We’re on a mission to change how the music industry works, shifting benefits to artists and those who bring music to fans. We’re doing this by building out a network of everyone involved and then making it easy for people to work together.  We will be building an incentive system into our offerings that gives participants a voice and a stake in what we’re doing.

  • What does SKP stand for?

    • We are helping artists and people who help make art become “escapees” from the archaic practices of the entertainment industry.

  • What is an alpha test and why are you doing one?

    • An alpha test is an opportunity to show software and services under development to members of your target audience for the purpose of gathering feedback.  The term “alpha” signifies that we don’t think we’re done yet, and this is a very early look.  We’re doing the best we can to build something that will be valuable and useful.  However, we will only know if we’ve succeeded and what sort of changes will be needed to make what we’ve built valuable if we show it to the type of people we think will use it.  That’s where you come in.  We want your opinions (even the harsh ones!).

  • Can I just use the product?  Is it done yet?

    • The product is functional, but it’s not yet done.  We anticipate that the feedback we receive will prompt numerous changes.  We’re not ready for people to “live in the house” while we’re working on it.  We think it will be soon though.

  • What do you expect of me during the test?

    • We’ve designed the alpha test to have several bite-sized chunks that will have you look at and try to use different parts of the product.

    • We plan to ask for about 15-30 minutes of playing with the product each week for about 4 weeks.  We will hold some video calls to collect your feedback.  We’ll schedule several during the week to accommodate schedules.

    • You will also be able to send questions and feedback to the team outside of the video calls.

  • That’s a lot to ask!  What if I can’t do it all?

    • We won’t be taking attendance.  It’s OK if you have to miss some involvement.

    • We will be tracking your usage, though, and will be rewarding participation.

    • If you think you really won’t be able to participate much at all, it’s OK to bow out.  You won’t hurt our feelings.

  • Couldn’t we just do all of the testing in one go?

    • We’re hoping to take the feedback we receive from you each week and make changes.  We would love to get your reactions to these changes as well.  This is why we’re stretching out the alpha test over several one week periods.

  • I know some other people who would be really interested in this.  Can I invite them into the test?

    • We are keeping the number of people we asked to participate limited.  We want to be very responsive during this test, and we were concerned that large numbers in the test might make that difficult.

    • However, towards the end of the test, we will give you some invitations that you can share with others.  Before that time, feel free to share names with us.

  • How should I communicate with you during the test?

    • We’re going to try to be open on many channels.

        • We’ve included forum functionality in the app.  We’ll be monitoring posts there.
